Run Your First Export

From choosing the right scraper to downloading your finished CSV, here’s how to run your first LeadsFriday export from start to finish.

Running an export with LeadsFriday is pretty simple. You build the audience on the source platform, give us the search URL, and we handle the scraping on our servers. When it’s finished, your CSV is waiting on your order page. No browser extension running in the background. No need to keep your laptop open. Here’s the whole process.

Decide what data you need

Before choosing a tool, decide what you actually want at the end.

Are you looking for a list of companies that match your ideal customer profile?

Or do you need people you can contact directly?

The difference matters.

If you’re building an account list, start with a company scraper. If you’re looking for decision-makers, use a people scraper.

And if you already have the people but you’re missing emails or phone numbers, you probably don’t need another scraper at all - use an enrichment tool instead.

A simple way to think about it:

  1. Companies - Find businesses you want to target

  2. People - Find the right contacts at those businesses

  3. Enrichment - Find missing emails, phone numbers, websites, or other contact data

Pick the right LeadsFriday tool

LeadsFriday has 50+ scraping and enrichment tools, but you don’t need to understand all of them to get started.

Choose the tool based on where your audience already lives.

Have an Apollo people search? Use the Apollo Scraper.

Looking for companies in Apollo? Use the Apollo Company Scraper.

Built your audience in LinkedIn Sales Navigator? Use the Sales Navigator Scraper.

Want people who follow a specific company? Use Company Followers.

Looking for local businesses? Start with the Google Maps Scraper.

Need eCommerce stores or companies using particular technologies? Look at StoreLeads or BuiltWith.

For your first test, pick a source you already know. That makes it much easier to compare the exported data with what you expected.

Build your search on the source platform

Now go to the source platform and build your target audience.

For example, in Apollo you might filter by:

  1. Location

  2. Job title

  3. Industry

  4. Employee count

  5. Seniority

  6. Technologies

  7. Company keywords

Check the search before you export

In Sales Navigator, you might use job title, geography, company headcount, industry, seniority, and other available filters.

Don’t try to use every filter.

Start with the few things that actually determine whether a prospect is relevant to you.

If you sell to marketing directors at US SaaS companies with 50-200 employees, those are the things your search needs to get right.

Once the search looks good, open a few results manually.

Ask yourself: if this person or company appeared in my outreach campaign tomorrow, would I be happy with the match?

If yes, you’re ready to export.

Copy and submit your search URL

Once your search is ready, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar.

Then open the matching scraper in LeadsFriday.

Paste your search URL into the order form, choose how many records you want, review the pricing, and submit your request.

You don’t need to manually recreate all your filters inside LeadsFriday. The search URL tells us what you’ve already built on the source platform.

Before submitting, take a second to check:

  1. 1 - You’re using the correct scraper for your source

  2. 2 - You’ve pasted the complete search URL

  3. 3 - The number of records you requested looks right

  4. 4 - You’ve reviewed the rate for that tool

What happens while we process it

Once the request is submitted, LeadsFriday takes over.

The export runs on our servers, not inside your browser.

That means you don’t need to keep the LeadsFriday tab open while the data is being collected.

You can close your browser. You can shut down your computer. The request keeps running.

Most exports are completed within a few hours, depending on the source and number of records. Large requests containing hundreds of thousands or millions of leads can take longer.

When the export is complete, you’ll be able to access it from your order page.

Download and check your CSV

Once your request is finished, download the CSV from your LeadsFriday order page.

Before importing 50,000 rows into your CRM or outreach tool, open the file first. Excel or Google Sheets is fine.

Check a handful of rows and make sure the data matches what you expected.

Look at things like:

  1. Names

  2. Job titles

  3. Company names

  4. Websites

  5. LinkedIn URLs

  6. Locations

  7. Industries

  8. Any other fields important to your campaign

Enrich your list if needed

Also check the total number of rows. Taking two minutes to review the file before importing it somewhere else can save a lot of cleanup later.

A scraping export doesn’t always mean your list is ready for outreach.

You might have the right people but no work emails. Or you might have company records and need to find the right contacts.

That’s where enrichment comes in. You can take your exported data and use LeadsFriday’s enrichment tools to find things like:

  1. Verified work emails - Find business email addresses for your prospects.

  2. Direct phone numbers - Add available phone numbers to your contact list.

  3. Company websites - Find domains when they’re missing from your original data.

  4. Email verification - Check email addresses before putting them into a cold email campaign.

What to do if something looks wrong

You don’t need a separate subscription for enrichment. The same LeadsFriday credit balance works across our scraping and enrichment tools.

If your completed CSV doesn’t look the way you expected, don’t immediately submit the same request again.

First, check the original search. A lot of list problems start with filters that were too broad or too narrow.

If the search looks correct but something still seems wrong with the export, contact us and include your order details. We’ll take a look.

We’re a small, founder-led team, so your question isn’t going through several layers of sales and support before reaching someone who understands the export.
